Sānzàng (三藏) is the Chinese term for
the Tripitaka scriptures, and in some English-language fiction he is addressed
with this title.
In
Japanese, he is known as Genjō, or Genjō-sanzō
In
Vietnamese, he is known as Đường Tăng, Đường Tam Tạng in which "Tam
Tạng" is indicated as Three Collections, and Đường means this monk belongs
to Tang dynasty (618-907).
